(August 10, 2022, Prague) The recently appointed representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Mrs. Thianly Chukki, visited the Senate on her visit to Prague. On Wednesday, she discussed with eight members of the Senate Friends of Tibet Group, for example, the programme for the visit of the Prime Minister of the Tibetan Government-in-Exile, Mr. Penpa Tsering.
“The Czech Senate Pro-Tibet Initiative has 24 members and, together with the recently established parliamentary group, is one of the largest parliamentary groups supporting Tibetan autonomy. Ms Thianly Chukki knows well that in the Czech Republic the idea of a free Tibet is supported not only in the Parliament but also in hundreds of communities that sign up to the Flag for Tibet campaign every year. So the Czech Republic was, in her words, the first country she officially visited in Europe after Switzerland,” said Přemysl Rabas, chairman of the Senate Friends of Tibet Group, adding that the above-standard cooperation will continue at the end of August, when the President of the Tibetan government-in-exile will visit Prague.
Thianly Chukki graduated in law from Harvard Law School in the US and has been working with the Tibetan government-in-exile based in Dharamsala, India, since 2018. She worked for over two years in the Tibet Office in Geneva, which she was recently appointed to head.
